Maybe Spidey will be the best man
Last night, Barry Wilson proposed to Adriana Garcia right in the center of town. They got engaged at Spider-man's rickshaw. Naturally, we were right in their face with the camera, because we are everywhere.
But actually, we knew it was going down. About a week or so ago, Officer Susie Izaguirre (Izzy, one of the bike cops) asked me for Shaun's number, Shaun is Spider-man, the rickshaw guy. She told me that Barry was going to propose to her daughter and he wanted to do it with Spidey after a romantic rickshaw ride.
So apparently, they arranged it all and yesterday morning, Izzy saw me at breakfast, and she told me that last night was the night. So I was there. Right in their face, which is a good thing because these are the only pictures they have of the happy event.
Izzy and the family were there, they were hiding and watching and filming from the rafters (the balcony at Fat Tuesday), but they weren't right down on the street, where the action was.
After Spidey took them for a long ride around the Grove in the rickshaw, Barry took over the reigns. He pulled Adriana around a bit and as luck would have it, all traffic seemed to disappear at that moment, so they had the whole street to themselves. Barry then stopped the rickshaw and as you can see, he popped the question. Everyone at CocoWalk and Johnny Rockets and on the sidewalk broke into cheers and applause. It was was a cool moment, something everyone will remember.
Adriana was totally in shock, she never noticed me, a strange guy, taking photos and having the flash go off right in her face. After a bit, she ran up to her Mom, Izzy at Fat Tuesday and she celebrated with the family. Izzy is a Grove cop and Adriana teaches at the Arts & Minds School, so it was a really great Grove moment for them all.
If anyone is planning on popping the question, this is a nice way to do it. Ask Shaun (Spider-man) about it when you see him out and about at night. He'll be sure to hook you up.
