St. Hugh announces concert series

St. Hugh announced its St. Hugh-Steinway concert series for 2015-16.

The first event is Friday, September 25, where four stars of popular music stages and opera productions will sing Jazz, Love Songs and Broadway songs. Roberto Berrocal, Ricardo Velásquez, Miguel Delabarca, Jennifer Zamorano and Gretel Ortiz are performing.

Ricardo Velásquez has performed Bel Canto and operatic repertoire for several years in Spain, Germany and Panama, singing with orchestras and in recitals, to stellar reviews.

Miguel Delabarca is a recording artist with Grammy Record Producer Humberto Gatica, who has worked Michael Buble, Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson & Josh Groban. Miguel’s music style is a combination of Andrea Bocelli and Michael Buble.

Jennifer Zamorano has performed with the Florida Grand Opera, Miami Summer Music Festival, Des Moines Metro Opera, Opera New Jersey, Vero Beach Opera, Gold Coast Opera, Amici del'Arte, Pro Arte Grateli, Hispanic Lyric Theatre and the Miami Lyric Opera. Critics comment that “Soprano, Jennifer Zamorano, is one of the most exciting up and coming young singers in today’s operatic realm. She involves the audience with her vocal legato and her powerful, rich and sultry voice with sparkling top notes.”

Grethel Ortiz has appeared in several South Florida theater productions. She has worked with Martha Picanes, Mirta Medina, Jorge Hernandez, Tania Marti, Ada Bejar, Nestor Cabell, Grateli’s production of “La Verbena de la Paloma”, and with New Century Dance and Pepe Dance Companies dancing flamenco, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, salsa and ballroom.

I have attended these concerts for the last 2 years and they are great. After the concert there is always a complimentary wine and cheese event at the building next to the church.
