I heard back from the Parks Department

I heard back from Kevin Kerwin, director of the City of Miami Parks and Recreation. He says about Regatta Park, "The crews are busy putting the final touches on the park and that will give us some time to look at any punch list items that come up. We are looking at opening a little later than Labor Day, however the exact date has not been determined and will be heavily dependent on the weather cooperating."

As for Peacock Park, they are trying to make changes there. There was an ordinance that was to have kept events out of the park and if they were permitted, they would not be allowed to gate the park in and charge. But it looks like that is not happening as of yet. Thanks to the BID and others, the events can take place. This would have effected the beer festivals, seafood festival, pumpkin festival and other events.

Kevin says, " As for Peacock Park, we are taking input from the BID Marketing Committee to determine any modifications that would be recommended to the BID Executive Committee and ultimately to the City Commission to amend the Coconut Grove Special Event District Ordinance, if necessary."

Speaking of Pumpkins, the Pumpkin Patch has not been heard from this year. It may not happen. I know I've complained about having to pay to go in and buy a pumpkin, but still, it was a great event for the fall.

Can you provide an update on the MPA parking garage in development process on S Bayshore Drive (next to Regatta Park and the proposed Grove Harbor project)? Timing? Any pending approvals required? Renderings, height/size, # of spaces, etc? Revenue sharing with BID? Preleasing/potential retail tenants? Thanks in advance.

Am somewhat perturbed that Regatta Park has a lot of coconut palm trees but few shade trees, native trees or plants. Who planned this?

Any word from Ken Kerwin or the Parks department about the Bathroom Facilities of Kennedy Park?

We were left with a post-war trailer-trash park mobile truck as "bathroom", water fountain is gone too, for over a year now.

For such a large, popular, important park, in the Grove, where residents pay taxes through the roof?!

I can only imagine how much all of the lady joggers and visitors must love the trailer trash stinking bathroom there..

How many years will it take to get a half-decent bathroom and water fountain back?

Urinate and defecate as some other location or before jogging, drink from your own supply of water or some other source along the way or by the shrimpers dock or the next park further South. Holy mackerel people, I mean really! Palms have leaves, branches, whatever you want to call them and simple common sense dictates they will block the sun as they have done in my yard quite well, so why not move out of the sun into the shaded area - - - - - bitch, bitch, bitch and bitch some more! Better yet go to Iraq or Syria then come back to the Grove and enjoy our bounty!?

Where's your house so we can stop by to hydrate, urinate and defecate? Thanks!
