Natalie Pacheco

I was sorry to hear of Natalie Pacheco's passing. Many of you know her from The Bookstore and Lulu, she worked at both places.

Natalie was killed by a person who was texting while driving a truck. Natalie was walking on the sidewalk, on her way to the bus stop. This was July on 8, 2015. Natalie was 19.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of her passing.

There is a fundraiser for her family here.

What a horrible tragedy and loss.

Texting and driving is a dangerous epidemic down here. Drive around the streets of Miami for an hour or two and look at what drivers are doing. You'll be surprised at how many people have their eyes glued to their phones rather than on the road. Those who get caught texting and driving should be penalized the same as those who are caught driving under the influence.

Exactly! It's usually MORE distracting than a light buzz. Will the driver get jail time? If not, why not?

Why is Miami Commission still sitting idle when the could have banned texting and talking on the phone while driving in Miami long time ago.

Natalie's life was cut short because some jackass texting? It is not right.Miami wake up and start issuing tickets and penalties for texting while driving. In some states it's a very serious offense.
Tickets enforced. Why not here? Next time I see someone doing it, I am going to start calling them on it!

RIP to Natalie. So sad.

@3:21 -

Its a secondary offense. Meaning you can't be pulled over just for doing that. You need to be cited for another offense first, like speeding, changing lanes without signaling, or running over a pedestrian.

Texting and taking on the phone must be treated like DUI. In more civilized states it is strictly enforced.

The commission must be asked why they cannot make a resolution ASAP to make all phone use illegal while driving a very congested and growing City of Miami. Function of a commissioner should not be only tend to builders and developers.

People here can't drive to begin with and with texting and driving only makes it worse. You wouldn't believe how many times I've seen people watching movies on their phones while driving.

I heard about what happened last year. Natalie was a dear friend years ago. So sad to see that this happened to her. She was without a doubt a genuinely nice person. Ill never forget her. Rest in peace Natalie, if everyone was even a little bit more like you it would be a better place.
