Happy 4th of July!
The fireworks are back 4th of July in Coconut Grove. The day starts as it usually does with the old-fashioned picnic at The Barnacle. This is from 11 am to 4 pm. There are traditional lawn and table games and live music by Solar Dogs. Bring a picnic or purchase burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs and soft drinks. Kids crafts include kite and boat making, paper dolls and more.
Cost is $5 adults; $3 ages 6-12 and under 6 free. Bring blankets and coolers. The Barnacle is located at 3485 Main Highway.
From 3 to 7 pm, CocoWalk has their annual Independence Day and Hot Dog eating contest. The popular hot dog contest is at 6 pm in the courtyard.
There's a picnic and fireworks in Peacock Park from 5 to 9 pm. Where the day is capped off with fireworks over the bay.
Bike on over to the fireworks, Bike Coconut Grove is providing free bike valet parking in Peacock Park beginning at 5 pm. Bike to the event and leave your bike with them in the bike corral just below the Glass House on McFarlane Road.
In between it all, check out the Sonesta Coconut Grove’s Fourth of July buffet which will be served from 6 – 10 pm, featuring an eclectic spread of hot and cold offerings at $45.00 per person. Guests can enjoy chilled options including refreshing salads, shrimp cocktail and oysters on the half-shell, as well as comforting favorites such as country style BBQ pork ribs, sided with roast fingerling potatoes and farm fresh corn on the cobb. Finish off with a decadent dessert, such as strawberry parfait or dulce de leche cheesecake.
The property’s signature cocktail line-up includes tasty beverages such as the “American Beauty” (pictured right: mix vodka, blue curacao and lime juice in a chilled martini glass, splashed with grenadine and garnished with cherries/raspberries) or the “Star Spangled Sonesta” (shaken citrus vodka, triple sec, lime juice and grenadine topped with sprite).

THANKS TOM, HAPPY 4th OF JULY TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Happy Independence Day Tom!
Wow- watched the fireworks from the Grove Isle bridge with a bunch of neighbors. Best in 15 years. Could see Coral Reef Yacht Club, Key Biscayne, far off Gables and maybe Blackpoint Marina, and a bit of Bayside - but the Peacock Park fireworks were spectacular.
