All-Grove Crime Watch meets Wednesday

The next All-Grove Crime Watch meeting is Wednesday, July 8, from 7 to 8:30 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in the great room (2750 McFarlane Road). The meeting room is at the rear of the church property and signs will be posted.

On-site parking is available in the church’s lot, there is no charge for those attending the meeting. Inform the parking attendant that you are going to the referenced meeting. Over the last month there were interesting events relating to crime prevention. The City of Miami Police Department’s Youth Empowerment Program is underway. The program pairs young men with Coconut Grove police officers for 40 hours a week; the goal is to mentor the participants to help them become well-rounded citizens ready to face the city’s work and educational challenges. If you would like to donate to this program, go to www.grovecrimewatch.org. Select “donation” and you will see a button to select the Youth Empowerment Program.

The monthly All-Grove Crime Watch meetings are open to residents and they’re very informative regarding criminal activity and related issues affecting the Grove. Regular attendees include officers from the City of Miami Police Department, an Assistant State Attorney from the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney, and a representative from the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District, (BID). Some meetings feature esteemed guest speakers including judges from the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida.
