Anybody wanna buy a trolley terminal?
Maybe to make it up to the community, our Commissioner should turn it into a community center or something like that.
Scheming developer Henry Torres had a plans for this new terminal, actually a maintenance facility, which is even worse, but he didn't want to burden the new condo dwellers or Epicure Market with the facility so he thought he could dump in the Grove's Village West neighborhood, on the other side of the highway.
The Grove neighbors were not having it and Commissioner Sarnoff, who cut the deal, along with Henry and the City of Coral Gables, wiped their hands of it after the Federal Transit Administration ruled that both cities had violated Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act in October 2013.
Now it's for sale.

The real question is - how will Sarnoff convince West Grovites to rally around his wife's campaign come election season?
The former bathroom and water fountain on Kennedy Park are also for sale. RFP juicy process to begin at City Hall today.
11:25 Turkey and Ham giveaway door to door, that will do the job, he has done that many times in "West Grove"
Glad the community fought this battle and won.
Would be a convenient location to fill your prescription for Medical Marijuana.
Would result in a much lower crime rate and considerably safer West Grove.
There was a list of usage restrictions about 4 miles long that were placed on the property during the settlement (only good through 10/19). Marijuana dispensary is one of them. Just about any function that the structure is actually useful for is barred so this property may sit empty for a long, long time.
"Maybe to make it up to the community, our Commissioner should turn it into a community center or something like that."
Great theory, but the property is privately owned by Henry Torres. I highly doubt that he is going to dedicate it as a community center to the neighborhood that put him into this mess.
Pot dispensary? Free ham and turkey?
Wow. Some really obnoxious--and some might say offensive--posts on this thread.
"Commissioner Sarnoff, who cut the deal"? Are you kidding me? Sarnoff allowed zoning to issue the permits (warrant) for this boondoggle to be build. You might want to check your sources about who kept this building from being used as a maintenance facility.
Pretty typical entry here... just uneducated dribble that assumes anything being built near the Grove is product of back room dealings and greedy developers.
The City will demand the demolition of an unpermitted building and hold the property owner responsible with finds and leans. So why are we not doing the same for this building? Let’s hold all those responsible for this fiasco to be held professionally and personally accountable.
