Young Artists' Gallery featured at Woman's Club

The Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove is hosting the annual Young Artists' Gallery on Friday, March 13. YAG is a juried art show and sale for Dade County Public School Students. This year the honorary chairman is Superintendent of Dade County Public Schools, Alberto Carvalho. The night will offer a reception and award ceremony. There will be $5,500 awarded in college Scholarships to four recipients and ten students will receive certificates of distinction and $50 awards and their teachers will each receive a $50 honorarium.

Denise M. Gerson, who holds an MA in Art History from UM, retired in 2012 as the Associate Director of the Lowe Art Museum, and a past Chairperson of Art in Public Places for the City of Miami Beach, will do the honor of judging this years YAG entries. Some of the artwork can be purchased from the students and picked up after the end of the show.

This event is made possible with funding provided by the Korth Family Foundation, the Coconut Grove Bank, the Anthony Pippo Family, members and friends of the Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove. There will be several raffles and a refreshment bar. Hors d'oeuvres and cake will be served in honor of the 124th Anniversary of the Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove.

Doors open at 6 pm. This event runs throughout the weekend is free and open to the public. The Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove was founded in 1891 and is a nonprofit charitable organization. The club is located at 2985 South Bayshore Drive.  All contributions are tax deductible.
