The Typsy Mermaid is coming for the weekend;
an oyster and champagne pop-up party

The Typsy Mermaid is coming this weekend - it's a pop-up party being presented by Lasso the Moon, the Grove's event planning and design company.

The party will coincide with the Arts Festivals and take place at Lasso the Moon (3415 Main Highway). This looks like a lot of fun. There will be the "Sassy Oyster Bar," featuring fresh East Coast oysters, Maine lobster rolls and a selection of Belgian ales and champagne. Cynthia Seaman and Dave Ragnow, owners of Lasso are known for their exceptional food.

The oysters come from Island Creek Oysters in Duxbury, Massachusetts. They made it here in between all those Noreasters they've been having up north. The oysters will be served on the half shell with a choice of two mignonettes; either the classic champagne and shallot or a tangy granny apple. Main lobster rolls will be served with a South Florida citrus twist. Also available will be tempura battered haricots verts from Paradise Farms, served with a lemon aioli There will also be oyster shooters with a touch of champagne.

Billecart-Salmon Brut rose and an $8 glass of house bubbly will complement the food. French pink lemonade will be available along with the Belgian ales and Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.

“Pearl, the sea siren behind The Typsy Mermaid, was an idea that Dave and I conceived in Paris, and we wanted her to be born in Coconut Grove. We see her as a good girl who  enjoys her bubbly and is sassy, not stuffy,” says Cynthia Seaman. She continues, “The Typsy Mermaid  is a celebration, and we thought    e would bring what we love to the space that we love, which is Coconut Grove.”

Since mermaids live forever, there’s a chance you’ll see her in Coconut Grove for a very long while. But for now, The Typsy Mermaid will be open February 14, 15 and 16 from 11:30 am
until 7:30 pm, stop by on your way between festivals.
