It's Paramount to save The Playhouse
I like what's going on in Brooklyn these days. The reason the story caught my attention is because my mother has told me so many times over the years that when she was younger, she went to the Paramount all the time and she saw so many famous people there live, who performed before the movies in those days. She saw Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Jerry Lee Lewis and so many others, right there on the Paramount stage. Imagine going to the movies today and seeing Beyonce or One Republic or Ariana Grande performing before the movie started!
What's great about these theaters is that they are still standing and were not fated by the wrecking ball. According to the Brooklyn Daily, "Long Island University and an affiliate of Barclays Center have inked a deal to bring live performances back to the historic Paramount Theatre on Flatbush Avenue at DeKalb Avenue. "
We need to get these guys from Brooklyn to take a look at the Coconut Grove Playhouse. And fast. If the Grove Playhouse ends up being anything more than what it is now, we can see that an honest effort was not made to save the building.
PS. Diana Ross performed at the opening of the King Theater in Flatbush earlier this week. That's what we need here.
