Her jewelry is her stress-free outlet
Joyce Nelson has been participating in the St. Stephen's Art Show for over five years, she won 2nd Place in 2011. But she has done so many shows in the Miami area and beyond, that I'm sure so many of you are familiar with her beautiful jewelry creations.
Joyce, left, has participated in The Beaux Arts Festival, Naples National Art Festival, Bonita Springs National Art Festival, Sarasota Masters, Plantation's Art in the Park and dozens more. Her Jewelry with gemstones and pearls has won many awards, too.
"I love Coconut Grove and have lived here since 1974. The best is being close to the water for boating, fishing, kayaking, eating, and just the views," says Joyce.
When asked about her favorite pieces, she replied: "I have many favorite pieces. Some I have not even offered for sale and I wear them. Some have been bought as I was wearing them and the separation was hard."
Joyce has many collectors of her jewelry and they buy from her regularly. She just sold a favorite of hers recently at the Bonita Springs Art Show.
Joyce started doing art professionally in 2001. "My 30 year career in marketing and advertising was taking a toll my stress level and I decided to have an outlet for more creative endeavors. I took all the jewelry classes and the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) courses. I fell in love with gemstones and pearls," she says.
