We're in the running for the Curbed Cup

Coconut Grove won the last round of voting where we beat Brickell for the Curbed Cup Neighborhood of the Year award. Now we're up against the MiMo district. Voting ends on January 2 at noon. Place your vote here

I must say that the Vagabond Hotel is beautiful, but we have to stick with our own neighborhood on this one. And I feel that the Grove has history and characters, it's the people that really make the Grove, we put the NUT in Coconut Grove.

This used to be a no-contest contest. The Grove was the best hands down. But politicians like Marc Sarnoff have used their authority to wreck the Grove so their chosen developers can benefit from investment elsewhere, like MiMo.

Can you imagine this contest 10 years ago?

Yeah, I can imagine the contest 10 years ago. South Beach would have won.

Not sure if you have been reading the blog lately, but there's a lot of investment going on right here in the Grove.

There's a lot of investment everywhere. It never stopped, only slowed in the Grove.

What matters is the type of investment, the goals of such investment, how it continues established development plans and interacts with the surrounding neighborhood (to its detriment or added value).

Get back to basics. SOBE is the tourist trap because it forgot how to be hospitable. That's a lesson for investors and politicos alike.

Coconut Grove has similarly suffered from poorly thought out investment made worse by political enabling. This must ring a bell, right?

We are going to lose.

MIMO won because, through redistricting, they manged to slip the leash of the Great Neighborhood Destroyer Herr Sarnoff.. I am certain that IF he still represented the area he would have found many clever (but lucrative) ways to destroy it. The new commissioner appears willing to simply ignore the area which is probably a blessing. Now what are all of us going to do to prevent the election of his pretend "spouse" ..."Sarnoff Junior: The Nightmare Continues"?

This is probably your 20+ post insinuating that Sarnoff's wife ("pretend spouse," what the hell is that?) is going to run for office.

If you have any evidence, please post it, otherwise cease posting this misinformation.

I'm not the anon you're referring to but I agree with their sentiment.

T.Sarnoff will file sometime soon.

Master Sarnoff has raised close to $250,000 to the ECO he chairs "Truth is the Daughter of Time".

I just hope Solares is not the Cuban version of Sarnoff but it sounds pretty close. Hope someone better decides to run.

Read this article in the herald: "Right after 2014 election, Miami’s campaign season begins"

She will most likely run. You think Sarnoff's handlers will let the dynasty fade?

The Grove lost because Sarnoff lead its destruction. MiMo won because Sarnoff ignored MiMo when he was its commissioner and Keon Hardemon could not find the MiMo District, even with his $120,000 per year chauffeur. Keon is too busy diverting SEOPW CRA money to his homeys.
