Rescuing the Sandbar (for tv show)

The tv show "Bar Rescue" has taken over the Sandbar for the weekend, actually, they started setting up Wednesday and tonight, Thursday, they are going to start filming.

They have it set up so that a bunch of customers are in the bar and then the Bar Rescue people come in, you know, Jon Taffer, and they throw the people out and then "rescue the bar," with a lot of yelling and fuss. "Reality" tv.

So the bar will be remodeled and on Sunday, the new Sandbar will be unveiled.

So anyway, don't be concerned about the Sandbar being closed, it's all due to the tv show filming. Your fav bar will be back Sunday, all new and shiny.

Reminds me of Tabatha's Salon Takeover which took over the Allure salon on Main Highway in 2009.

They need rescuing. Used to be very good food. New management ruined that.

There is a lady with a table outside, I think if you walk over there and talk to her, she can sign you up for the extra roles.

This is exciting for the grove, I've been to other bars in other cities that Bar Rescue has redone, and most are tastefully done, and seem to be thriving after the show.

Please say they won't be getting rid of the pee & puke smells from the bathrooms. Cuz then it just won't be The Sandbar anymore!

They need to rescue the Grove while there at it.

I hope the kitchen isn't too nasty. The part of the show where they show how dirty and unsanitary most kitchens are is the worst.

They kicked everyone out at 11pm.
The lazy staff has put a damper on that bar.
So many times I have seen tourists sitting outside, at the tables, waiting for service. Only to walk away after 20 minutes and go somewhere else.

During its glory days, Sandbar used to have hot & happy tattooed girls delighted to serve everywhere, in those bright and scarce sports attires. All that's left now are the tats and them suspect funky smells.

Unmitigated disaster

One: drinks were not free
Two: show staged the entire thing
Three: I went to the before(Wednesday) and the after(Sunday) filmings of the tv show and they desecrated the place. Yes, they could have fixed a few things before the show, but if it remains as is it will not last. Classic example of "get on tv to get popular" when really just ruins the place. The Hot Rock...is that really the new name?!
Sandbar: what have you done to yourself?

@1:51 - the person who said that is a troll. Hope he or she didn't get too many people with that lie.

Not feeling the new name either. It will always be sandbar to us regulars.

We had a fun night becaue of the event going on, but...

We were very disappointed with the fact they no longer give free drinks like they did for most of the earlier seasons.

The line outside was kept a long line - but not to make it look like there is a lot of interest. It was a long line because it is now more of a dining experience with literally hot rocks being shuffled around the room for people to cook their own food on at prices much higher than what they would be used to paying in the same bar stool last week.

I wonder what the cheapest beer will be now, and will they have fish tacos?

Thanks to this website though for the heads up!

Are you kidding with this? The only rescue Sandbar needed/needs is a lot of bleach/regular cleaning, and to bring back what made it - good college party crowd - that's what that place was made for - White Trash Bash - Jello wrestling, etc.

I hope they realize what a mistake they've made. What a joke, this place is going to be closed in 6 months.

It's absolutely terrible what they have done to a great place. All they had to do was clean it up a little bit. The thought of having the old grove bar and grill was great. A great new name that wouldn't have needed many changes. This is a complete disaster and I don't know what the owner was thinking. Mark my words, the rock will be closed in less than 6 months.

How dare you get rid of the fish tacos!!!

I felt like I was on the show Punked last night - what were they thinking?

The owners running around in suits, the waitresses looked like they were wearing hotel cleaning uniforms and cook your own Benihana food?

wtf

Very very sad to see what has happened to this place since last Wednesday! Sure it needed cleaning up, but it did not need to be turned into another place pretending to be Brickell. Let this be a lesson to people that say anyone can come in and "save the grove". I hope they take a good long hard look at "Hot Rocks", this is what the new construction down the road will look like. All this leaves me very sad and disappointed, hope it can be fixed as it will not survive in current set up.

I'm glad they're cleaning it up.
The place looked dilapidated and smelled like a third rate Bennigan's West Kendall.

If it was still making money they wouldn't have gone for the makeover, so it was either this or another boarded up business on Grand.

They changed the name back to Sandbar! The whole hot rock thing was probably just staged for the show.

What a crock, the place probably was not doing bad after all.

Name is back but waitresses and managers still wearing goofy outfits.
