Proposals wanted for FEAST Miami

FEAST Miami (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics) is a meals-based micro-funding project that consists of pop-up dinners at art venues to financially support new and emerging creative projects. Artists and small arts organizations are invited to submit a simple proposal for an art project at feastmiami.org by December 10.

The third FEAST Miami will be held at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden on Sunday, February 1, at 1 pm.

Diners will give a minimum donation for dinner and the opportunity to fund an exciting art project. At the last FEAST Miami, diners funded On Board, a site-specific, interactive series of dance pieces performed on the Miami Beach boardwalk founded by Miami-based choreographer Katie Wiegman.

FEAST Miami was created through the support of Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge to bring food and art together to create community. The proposals submitted on December 10 will be scored by a selection committee made up of art professionals and the top five applicants will be invited to present at the dinner. Diners will then vote for the project to be funded. Projects should be innovative, feasible and impact the community. Applications are available at feastmiami.org

Inspired by the food sustainability movement, FEAST will provide community-based sustainability for the arts. The meals will be healthfully prepared with organic and locally-sourced foods. FEAST Miami was founded by Chef Loren Pulitzer of Meals That Heal & curator/producer Susan Caraballo. FEAST Miami was inspired by F.E.A.S.T. Brooklyn organized by artists. It is made possible through the support of John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge that funds ideas that help bring South Florida together through the arts.
