Mad Hatter artist: Milda Bublys

The Mad Hatter Arts Festival is November 15 and 16 at The Barnacle. We'll be profiling some of the artists who are participating this year.

Milda Bublys, our local clothing designer - "Turbanator" will be part of this weekend's Mad Hatter Festival. This is her first time participating.

"When I first moved here, it was the first festival that I attended in Miami, and I was incredibly impressed and inspired by the caliber of artists there. The fact that it's based off the idea of The Mad Hatter is something that fits my personality and clothing collection exactly. You see, I  make turban hats and clothing, all made from vintage and repurposed materials - the look is very one-of-a-kind and eclectic, much like the Mad Hatter himself!" says Milda.

Milda has participated in other shows in other cities like the One of A Kind Show, Chicago - Etsy Pavilion, Foundation for Great Apes "Art for Apes" exhibition during Art Basel, Miami,
Coconut Grove Art Festival with Blu Moon Gallery, Miami, Wynwood Artist Market at Wood Tavern- "El Mini Market" by Supermarket Creative, Miami, The Rust Belt, Detroit Michigan and The Market NYC, New York City.

Milda has received the Palazzo Rinaldi - Acceptance to Artist Residency, 2012, Noepoli, Italy.

"I'm a fashion designer, artist and teacher, but have the heart of a collector. Milda lists Sharon Stone, Sarah Jessica Parker and Nikki Reed as customers, she worked in the fashion industry for over 15 years, working with Alexander McQueen, Target and Capezio.

I got a chance to meet Milda this weekend at the Mad Hatter. We were assigned spaces next to each other. She is not only a fabulous designer, she is a really nice person. Look forward to seeing her again.
