Avenue J alternative/indie music fest is back

Distant Cousins
Chabad of the Grove is presenting the second annual Avenue J Music Festival, their alternative/indie Jewish inspired outdoor concert on January 18, 2015, at The Barnacle State Park (3485 Main Highway). Over 3000 attendees are expected to attend this year, last year's festival sold out.

Four bands will perform from New York, Los Angeles and Israel, with sounds ranging from Blues to folk to alternative rock. The artists all bring a Jewish flavor to their work in various ways, but none of it is what you may have come to expect.

The Avenue J headliners include Moshav, internationally acclaimed Israeli rock group. Moshav toured with Alex Clare in 2012 and In 2014 the band released “The World on Fire” with Matisyahu, the music video has reached over one million views. The King of Israeli Blues, Lazer Lloyd will bring his electrifying lyrics and guitar riffs to the stage, with influence from blues, southern rock and gospel music.

Other acts hail from different parts of the U.S., Purdue Avenue of Brooklyn, an indie sensation, exploded onto the scene with their debut EP “Alone at the Bar” in 2011. Their music and stage presence has been compared to Sublime and a younger Weezer.

If Music is Universal and about spiritual Freedom, why mix it with, or box-it-in with ANY organized, dogmatic religion?

Historically, look at where such religions or convenient, little creation fairy tales have gotten us so far, and still do: War, Materialism, dominance and robotization. Will pass: forgot the cute hat or my wives' burkas in some other life.

I see you conveniently forgot to read what Rabbi Getzy was quoted as saying, namely :

“This is an event for everyone regardless of age, faith or belief"

We shouldn't let that get in the way of your sub Russell Brand cod philosophy though eh?
