Woodystock; first of a long season of park events

The Boom Booms
Woodstock is back at Peacock Park on Saturday, September 27. This is the second year for the free benefit concert. Lots of events are coming up this fall/winter in the park, Woodystock will start the season off.

Woodystock is a grassroots event for music and art lovers. Along with the concert, local artists and food vendors will round out the event. Proceeds from the concert will benefit The Woody Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to raise funds for the recovery of people with spinal cord injuries. The concert is free; $20 donations are appreciated.

The event is from 2 – 8:00 pm. At 2 pm the gates open, the Fritz & Franz Bierhaus Beer Garden opens and the DJ starts, live music is from 4 – 8 pm.

On the stage will be DJ Brett Beats Bailey; cutting-edge Chicago based violinist, Katarina Visnevska; Colombian reggae/Latin group, Magical Beat featuring Mara Prada; adored Miami locals, Robby Hunter Band; Vancouver based indie soul band, The Boom Booms and South Florida reggae legends, Fourth Dimension will headline the show. The event’s title sponsor is Coral Gables-based CFH Group.

The Boom Booms in particular, have a huge following. This Vancouver-based indie-soul band has been working on a new album entitled, "Love is Overdue," over the past year and are ready to perform it live.

The Boom Booms have been called, "Some of the tightest, smoothest, sexiest soul and funk produced in the city right now comes courtesy of six guys who all grew up within a few blocks of each other on Vancouver’s East Side."

“We’re looking forward to our second edition of Woodystock, it’s an incredible opportunity for us to raise money and spread awareness about the Woody Foundation and the free Woody Pack. I want more people to know about our foundation and the Woody Pack. I have eliminated the need for help from others in various situations, it’s helped me a lot and it can help others," said James "Woody" Beckham.

So bring your friends and family, bring lawn chairs, frisbees, blankets and even your dog! It's Woodystock Time!
