What's old is new again

Cirque du Grove featured fire shows in the Center Grove
Last week, I wrote about a couple of events that are taking place in downtown Miami, which originally started in Coconut Grove. It's a shame that we let these events get away, but it's still nice to know that they are in the City of Miami and going on. Someone left a nasty comment stating that the event are gone because I am bitter. Not sure where that came from, I didn't know I was bitter. Would people stop putting on events in Coconut Grove even if I were bitter? I didn't know I had that power. I think the person who left that comment was the bitter one.

The events are gone now because a lot of us who used to put on the events are burned out and the expenses got too high, there are so many costs from closing the streets to getting security and permits and so on. I noticed that the Park(ing) Day event downtown had many sponsors. That seems to be the way things are going now with most events, sponsorships are more important than ever now.

The Park(ing) Day event, which we did in the past and the Buskers event, which we did for a couple of years were both quite popular events. Park(ing) Day was more organic and while a lot of planning went into it, it was a calm, green event.

The Buskers, which we called Cirque du Grove was a lot of fun. There were fire acts and Cirque du Soleil acts and streets were closed and it would happen on Fourth of July weekend.
