Celebrating Million Trees Miami
There is a tree clinic being held on Wednesday May 21, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm celebrating the protection of trees along 27th Avenue in Coconut Grove. The idea is to spread the word about protecting the Grove's tree canopy.
TreeHouse Acupuncture is sponsoring the event. From their invitatin: "A few months ago we began to see the dozers and excavators roll in and begin the 27th Avenue widening project. Amid the construction noise, that now-familiar piercing sound of a truck backing up, we made several accommodations to maintain the serene space where we treat our patients. We downloaded new music, put a speaker in each room, and even cracked the joke that our new soundtrack is 'sounds of the magic city!' Then a beautiful thing happened, a huge mature oak tree was relocated right in front of the clinic. A colleague from my days with the County’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department let me know that this oak tree was one of 50 that were protected from removal as part of the 27th Avenue widening. Those of you who know the Grove, know we take our trees pretty seriously. So, despite a few months of dealing with construction traffic, we are delighted to have a new addition to the TreeHouse tree canopy, courtesy of the County.
To celebrate saving trees and raising awareness for the Million Trees Miami campaign they are having a party.
Event details:
5:30 pm – Reception begins – Appetizers and refreshments will be served
6:00 pm – Demonstration of Acupuncture techniques and Chinese Herbal Medicine
7:00 pm – Grove Arborist Bob Brennan presents “The Unique Trees of Coconut Grove."
8:00 pm – Raffle – all proceeds will benefit Million TREES Miami.
Raffle items include Acupuncture & Massage Treatments, Organic Body Care products, Gift Certificates from Local Grove Restaurants, and more.
