Welcome our new neighbors SapientNitro

After what seemed like years of renovation, the first phase of Mayfair is ready to open today as the SapientNitro crew moves in. Today about 140 of the workers will be phased in, eventually a few hundred will occupy the Mayfair site. It's such a pleasure to see all that scaffolding down and the teal awnings up. Even this Ferrari matches the awnings in a show of solidarity.

SapientNitro is an huge award-winning ad agency, they recently acquired the La Comunidad agency, which had clients such as Time-Warner Cable, Converse, Corona, MTV, Subway and Virgin Mobile.

SapientNitro's clients include Chrysler, Citi Bank, Coca-Cola, Lufthansa, Target and Vodafone. They have almost 12,000 employees worldwide and the plan is to expand the Coconut Grove office to 500 or 600 people.

The Mayfair still has a long way to go to get it ready for the rest of their staff. The former bookstore site on Grand and Virginia is being returned to it's original facade; a big glass two-story entrance will be the main feature.

So all those extra people you'll probably be seeing around town are the new creative guys and ladies. Welcome them!

It's nice to see the bicycle-shaped bike rack again. It sort of got lost among all the scaffolding. But there it is, nice and shiny, like a street sculpture, right outside SapientNitro's Grand Avenue windows.  It sure is so much nicer for the tour buses now as they stop out front to let the tourists off.

This is excellent news for all the local restaurants that serve lunch. I hope they make some delicious and affordable take-away options for the sapient crew.
