Police to march on City Hall

Police officers and members of the community will be coming together on Thursday, February 27 at Peacock Park. They will then march to City Hall, in protest of their wage cuts. They would like their pay and benefits restored.

in 2010, the City of Miami imposed pay and pension cuts under the auspice of "Financial Urgency."

The march will start at 3 pm.

At this time in history police everywhere are performing a most important task and should have the support of those who they serve. 1st are our teachers who care for our children, 2'd are all those men & women who remove our trash/garbage & 3'd are all the men & women in military & police uniforms; try living without these 3 categories' of workers/public servants!

$100,000 pensions are causing all this trouble

The City of Miami Police force is a laughing-stock locally and nationally with the crazy family and friends plan led by Orosa at the helm. One of their top guys waved around a gun in a crowded Bayside eatery because he was mad at a family member and the dept. hushed it all up.

They've abused their power from the top down. Just take a look at the Crespo Gram Report blog to see how dysfunctional they are. Not one more dime for these steroid laced clowns.

If anyone needs to know how childish, vindictive, violent and lacking in ethics our Miami Police are just ask Florida Highway Patrol trooper Donna Jane Watts or look at our current Chief of Police Manuel Orosa who helped his fellow officers get away with beating Leonardo Mercado to death.

If the City has the funds I'd personally rather see it go to keeping our libraries open rather than rewarding these roid ragers.

You got to separate the cop who shows up at you door if you need him/her, from the politics and lack of leadership at the top, and the political interference by the Mayor and Commissioners, especially Commissioner "Pussy" Sarnoff.

The rank and file cops, like the rest of the city's employees were scapegoated to some degree by Regalado and the Commissioners, because while they whacked away at their salaries and benefits not a dime was taken from the elected officials or their personal staffs.

Al, as usual, you are spot on, Dude. The rank & file do get shit upon on a regular basis so the porcine clowns at the top can enjoy unfettered access to the public money trough. Thanks for reminding us.

Listen, that's about the best job one can get with little education and intelligence required. Name another job, earning equal salary and benefits with the minimal qualifications necessary for Miami PD?

As a fine judge once said, "Well, the world needs ditch diggers too."
