Grand opening party for new police substation
Stop by and meet the local officers and your neighbors. There will be complimentary food and drinks.
The station will be the base of operations for two full-time city employees and local police officers (the NRO's). The City of Miami Police Department will have several police units and equipment on-hand for the public to view, such as a horse-mounted police officer, S.W.A.T. command truck, and the bomb squad.

Has anyone asked the question yet where Sarnoff has gotten the money to create the "Sarnoff Foundation" ?
Who are the donors and what does he provide for them in return for their money...?
Am I the only person concerned that by having this station there it will only push the crime more towards center Grove and the quiet streets that the police are already ignoring?
"Coconut Grove residents can now walk the streets, whether it be 10am or 10pm" : Tomas Regalado.
So instead of being happy that there is a police sub station we have a question about the funding and some bizarre fear that crime will be pushed a few blocks away.
If this were any other community, people would be happy.
And thus, the Grove...

Yes, you're probably the only one concerned about a crime wave a few blocks away from the substation, and I imagine your remedy would be to not have a police substation.
Why is the police station open during the day but not at night ?
Must be too dangerous to be open at night.
I see the West Grovites out late at night, not during the day.
I pass down Grand Avenue at 5am every morning, and it's amazing how many people are on the streets. Some of them even try to stop me. I guess they are looking for a ride to church. Passed a guy carrying a flat screen TV this morning. Must have been donating it to church.
I'm happy to have a sub station anywhere in the Grove. Regarding why isn't it open like a 24 hrs CVS - personally I want a patrol at night, not an attended desk....
I don't want it open 24 hrs, I want it open at night.
Like Dexter said, it is amazing how many people are on the streets at night.
