New Grove Green Market now a part of Thursdays

The Grove Green Market opened right on time Thursday at the Coconut Grove Playhouse lot. It was a pleasant site to see activity again at that end of town and even better seeing all the green food for sale.

From flowers to food, to honey and prepared food and more, it was there. I see this market only getting bigger and better.
Lots of exotic fruits and vegetables were part of the market, things like carombola, dragon fruit, even emu eggs.

Jackie Segedin, the BID marketing assistant was there on one of the prize bikes. You could win it by simply putting your name down on a list. The whole BID crew was there as they are sponsoring the market, along with Paradise Parking and Seasons Farm Fresh. Thanks to Paradise, parking is free right on the premises.

Levi Ellenby and Sarah Diaz were at the LNB Groves organic farms booth. They had lots of items like dried fruit and freshly made, on the spot, guacamole.
Here are the huge emu eggs. While they seem expensive, that's the price for emu eggs. The market is quite reasonable. At one booth I was surprised to get change back from a $10 bill, when I bought six lemons, a cup of mixed fruit and a bottle of water!

The food is fresh, the vendors are all friendly and you'll see so many Grove neighbors there, it was like a little block party with all the familiar faces milling around.

This organic veggie plate was my lunch. I got it from Via Vegan for $10.00. They will be back with their booth weekly.

If you missed it, not to worry, The Grove Green Market will be at the Coconut Grove Playhouse parking lot each Thursday from 2 to 8 pm. They may adjust the hours depending on how people show up between the school dismissals and the 5 pm rush hour. Oh yea, the free bike valet was a hit too, people could just park their bikes and shop without worry.

There is always room for more vendors, you can sell candles, fruit, veggies, drinks, meat, fish, honey, whatever you think will sell here. Contact the BID at bidoffice@grovebid.com for more info.
