It's the new Thursday meeting spot

I'm really enjoying the Grove Green Market each week. It's really become a meeting place for so many locals. I like the fact that I can get something for lunch there that's different than the usual and the prices are really amazing.

I had a green health drink for $5, which had all sorts of things in it including some non-green things like bananas and pineapple, it was blended with ice and taste like a Slurpee only it was healthy , she also sells produce like lemons for 33 cents each! Nice thin-skinned lemons that are juicy.

There's a guy who sells pinchos for $4.00 each, he has beef and chicken. I think that's a good deal and the food is delicious. There's the honey guy, who for years I've been buying honey from. And there's lots of exotic fruits and veggies. Lots of people like the freshly baked bread and there are lots of pastries there too, including chocolate and fruit beignets! It's cool to see people walking down the street with loaves of bread sticking out of their backpacks or bags.

My friend Liz Gibson, one of the drummers in the Grove Drum Circle and a local artist, won a  nice Panama Jack bicycle in a contest sponsored by the BID. I was there when she picked it up with her bright pink hair. That was fun. Jackie Segedin of the BID took this photo.

I really like the aspect of seeing people you know and hanging out. They have tables set up in the center, where you can eat, drink or just hang out. There is live jazz after 5 pm and merchants and restaurant owners in the area are thrilled with the increase in foot traffic.

But if you don't walk, there is free car parking right on site and of course the free bike valet. I have to laugh about the bike valet because they literally wave people in who happen to be riding by on their bikes, they just wave them in and they come and they buy stuff and enjoy the place.

The market is taking a two week vacation for Christmas and New Year's. I'll miss it. But they'll be back the Thursday after that from 2 to 8 pm.
