Miami Reggae Festival at Peacock Park

The Miami Reggae Festival is at Peacock Park this coming weekend.

Dubbed the Miami International Reggae Festival, the festival, put on by Rockers Movement, is a positive celebration highlighting the power of word, sound and art uniting us all as members of one human family. The daylong family-oriented festival will be composed of many elements but all share in a single idea: a state of being unified as one. As Bob Marley so humbly said, “one love, one aim, one destiny.”Miami Reggae Festival is a family-friendly event featuring reggae performances from artists representing nine different nations including Stephen "Ragga" Marley from Jamaica, Tiken Jah Fakoly from Africa’s Ivory Coast, Cultura Profética from Puerto Rico, Natiruts from Brazil, Midnite from St. Croix USVI, Gondwana from Chile, and many more. The event also offers an artisan village of visual arts and handicrafts; various culinary vendors; an “Artecology Experience,” offering interactive games for kids about sustainability, healthy living seminars and workshops, including AEROGA Yoga in the Park, meditation, and dance; plus drum sessions, a bike valet, and so much more.

The festival aims to inspire people to give of themselves to help make the world a better place in which to live.

Feeding South Florida is involved too. In keeping the spirit of unity, attendees are asked to contribute two or more non-perishable food items as part of the cost of admission. Proceeds from the event will benefit Feeding South Florida. Their mission is to end hunger by providing immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts, and transforming lives through innovative programming and education.

“Given the philanthropic nature of this event, we’re inviting all civic minded companies to join us as partners in this event,” said organizer Alfonso D’Niscio Brooks. “It’s a great way to get your name in front of thousands of people while ensuring that thousands of dollars are donated to a very worthy cause," he went on.

Entry is free before 3 pm with the food donation. Festival officials and their media partners also are encouraging attendees to ride their bikes and make use of our bike valet or use public transportation to get to the festival. VIP tickets are $75 and General Admission is $45. You may purchase the tickets at the gate.
