Civil Rights Act violated regarding trolley garage
The report found that other than posting a notice online, “the city of Miami took no action to solicit community input or otherwise evaluate the impact of the new maintenance facility on the local community.”
What else is new, when have they ever notified residents about anything from tree massacres to development plans?
One major issue is the project, the trolley facility, received federal money, it is not permitted to build said facility in a residential neighborhood.
All of the details here, in the Herald.

Surprised?
Folks, note this nuance "THEY bought a bus" thereby violated Title VI a U.S. Civil Right Law. and thus are subject to judicial review. Translated, for those of you so full of written rhetoric via the Grape should apply your energy to researching the Waterfront proposal and attempt to locate some [legal] flaw in either the proposal and all related law and take some action IF you're really, really & sincerely want to take some positive action against this project to save and enhance our view!? Seth, on the Grove Board is 100%$ absolutely the man to accomplish this - - - easily.
I hope the feds make their way to city hall and clean house. They'll be there for YEARS investigating all the shenanigans that go on behind the scenes.
The Chicago crew in Washington investigating Miami City Hall for corruption would be a joke.
OK Swlip lets bring in the Havana crew.
I've been saying that Trolleygate was Racism from the very first. Now the U.S. DOT has agreed with me.
While it's nice to see the Miami Herald and the Grapevine finally writing about West Grove issues, this neighbourhood is woefully underrepresented by the local media and, not surprisingly, its [allegedly] corrupt Commissioner Marc D. Sarnoff.
I've been writing about Trolleygate since January 27, 2013. A compendium of my posts can be found at http://notnowsilly.blogspot.com/search/label/Trolleygate
Other West Grove issues that need more coverage: The Demolition by Neglect of the E.W.F. Stirrup House and the Coconut Grove Playhouse.
Oh, and:
"One major issue is the project, the trolley facility, received federal money, it is not permitted to build said facility in a residential neighborhood."
Aside from the tortured grammar, this is simply wrong.
The issue for the U.S. Department of Transportation is that both Coral Gables and Miami have accepted Federal Dollars to buy its fake trolley buses. The non-conforming government operated maintenance facility received no Federal Money whatsoever.
They need to turn it into the West Grove Community Center and name it after Sarnoff.
