Gables Museum presents Miami Marine Stadium

"Concrete Paradise," an exhibit celebrating Miami Marine Stadium is opening at the Coral Gables Museum on Thursday, October 17.

Ticket sales will benefit preservation of the stadium, which is now on the fast track to being restored. Tickets are $25 each, you may purchase them here.

The opening event will feature local athletes, a performance by VJ Psyberpixie and Bacardi cocktails. Alsoand racing hydroplanes will be parked outside.

Miami Marine Stadium's historical past is being shared and it's hopes to be a restored venue for performances that Miami can be proud of in the future.

Author and architectural conservator, Rosa Lowinger, has curated this exhibit which is interactive. Cliff Mezey, a member of the stadium board came up with the idea almost two years ago.

Video footage, rare photos, collectibles, original art installations, photo murals of the stadium's now famous graffiti, and an antique hydroplane are all part of Thursday's opening. And not to leave the future out, never before renderings of the plans for the future stadium will be available.

Following later in the month and next month, there are a couple more programs related to Miami Museum Stadium. On  October 24 is "The Future of the Miami Marine Stadium," a panel discussion and on November 6 there is "Boat Racing in Miami; Past and Future," a panel discussion.
