Restaurant news
Other news, the rumor is that Bombay Darbar is considering moving to the restaurant space on Commodore Plaza that was formerly Chicago's and the steak place. It's not definite, but they need a larger space, especially the kitchen. They are so swamped at their current location that they need more room. But the main concern is kitchen space, as they wouldn't add much more seating, maybe 10 more tables. That's if they do move, which as I said, is still being considered.
Also, the new Italian restaurant seems to be on track to open at the former Cita's space on Commodore Plaza. No opening date set, but renovations will start soon.

That is one of the best spots in the Grove, in my opinion. I was a shame that it sat empty for so long. I guess the rent was too high.
With Duffy's opening, I wonder if Sandbar and Chili's business will be effected.
Hopefully they'll last longer than the previous 2 establishments. Also, maybe the Indian place will put an end to the curse at the old Chicago / Firkin & Friar / steak place / whatever else has been here and gone unnoticed location.
This will be a huge success, especially when Sapient opens. They also have a great loyalty program that actually gives you incentive to go there a lot. Im a huge fan of the NMB location. Quick note, I doubt anybody grew up with them as they are fairly new, think your confusing with Duffys Tavern (no relation)
Finaly !!!!!!!!!!!!
Bombay Darbar is the best Indian restaurant in the greater Miami area by far. They do need more space. IF anyone can make that old location of ill-fate work, they can.
Duffy's is a good fit for cocowalk. And yes, they will kill Chili's, but really, Chili's is already dead, and lame anyway. It may also have an effect on Sandbar, but only to the extent of offering a second location to watch football in the Grove. Moreover, it will allow people to escape that awful, obnoxious crowd of Pats fans that sit at the center table and act like dude-bros with no class, to whom mgt. acts beholden. Love sandbar and some of their staff, but that group ruins sundays.
The Argentinian place that occupied the Chicago/Firkin Friar location had absolutely horrible service. I'm surprised they lasted more than two weeks. Terrible service and poor quality/value is what kills restaurants in the Grove.
I agree with the comments about the obnoxious fans at Sandbar on Sunday. I hope they are worth it because I refuse to go there on Sundays to watch games anymore. I found a much better location outside the Grove that gets my regular business.
if you dont like us dont come back to sandbar we dont need your bizz anyways.GO PATS!!!!!!!!!
I miss Hungry Sailor
I miss baja beach club,st.croix, howl at the moon, oxygen, wet willies (the original location)sr frogs, iquana cantinas, being able to just cruise if i wanted to and see lots and lots of people,sr.frogs when it was on grand ave.i miss hooters.I MISS THE OLD GROVE SO MUCH
Bombay Darbar is probably one of the best restaurants in Miami if not all of Florida, their prices are very good too for the excellent food and service you get.
And Anon 7:54 proves the previous commentators point. Way to go. Now head back over to brobible.com and talk more about your armband tattoos and axe body spray.
I wonder if Sandbars ownership supports that statement? I'll have to check on that.
WE DO NOW MIND YOUR OWN BIZZ BUDDY
I'm the president of the world, cuz I said so here anonymously...
no your not i am
Anonymous 5:57- clearly you haven't been to the Sandbar for football in quite a while. The Pats fans that you are refering to have been gone for years. I wonder about the future success of Duffy's. If hooters couldn't stay open, there must be something going on in cocowalk we don't know about. Let's hope Duffy's is able to give people another reason to come to the Grove.
