Valeria Rocciccioli's art presented in Wynwood
The galley opens early -- 2 pm and the reception goes until 9 pm. Then you can enjoy the Gallery Walk all night.
Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Valeria Rocchiccioli uses mass-produced discarded plastic objects as her main medium, and her sculptures remind us that ordinary can become extraordinary. This is evident when she shifts the material's original intention of existence by weaving plastic bottles, caps and zip ties into unpredictable forms. The densely patterned and colorful sculptures draw inevitable comparisons to São Paulo's landscape, large population and diverse society. Rocchiccioli is a graduate student and teaching assistant at UM and will receive her MFA in the spring of 2013. The work will be on view through April 26, 2013.
