Start this Saturday's Gallery Walk at FrameWorks

Gallery Walk is this Saturday, April 6. That's when all the Coconut Grove galleries show off their newest work with receptions from 7 to 10 pm on the first Saturday of the month.

This month at FrameWorks, three artists are featured: Perri Cox, Lynne Latham and Jeanine Watkin. Their work goes from left to right above.

Artist and art educator Perri Cox is a long-time Miami resident who spent her childhood moving around the country. She has a BFA in printmaking and an MS in Art Education from Florida International University. She has taught art in Miami-Dade public schools for almost twenty years, and is currently teaching at Coral Reef Senior High School. Perri is a member of GroveHouse Artists and the Dade Art Educators Association; she has decades of professional experience working with private clients, designers and art consultants.  Her art is in country clubs, hotels and private collections. Perri's recent works are primarily oil on canvas, and her subject matter is the beautiful flora and fauna of her South Florida home. "Drawing from life, and recognizing the beauty of our surroundings becomes an expression of the inner artistic voice," she says.

A native of Miami, Lynne Latham lived for many years outside New York City and studied art there. She began her photography career working for a newspaper, and started taking family portraits as a sideline; many of her early portraits still hang in private homes in Connecticut. After returning to Miami, Lynne established her own business taking corporate photographs, as well as doing commercial shoots, advertisements, home layouts for realtors and public relations campaigns; her work has been published in photogrpahy magazines and books. She has displayed her photographs at various venues including the Grove House Gallery, the Wimbish Gallery, the Coral Reef Yacht Club, Deering Bay and the Coral Gables Museum. "Portrait photography is my passion, but for the past few years I have been creating and selling works of art to various clients around the country.  My goal is to capture the spirit of the people and places around me," she states.

Jeanine Watkin left her native Puerto Rico to attend the Rhode Island School of Design from which she earned a BFA.  After graduation, she spent several years working for advertising and marketing firms before deciding to pursue an art career. She has traveled extensively and has experimented with various media including photography, drawing and painting; watercolor became her favorite. "I find it satisfying, as well as challenging, to 'reproduce' the marvels that surround us, be they flora, fauna, historic architecture or just a great day on the water," she says.  Jeanine's work hangs in many private collections in Florida, New England and abroad.  She has exhibited her work at the Grove House Gallery, the Coral Gables Art among the Flowers Exhibit, and the Deering Estate Exhibit for which she was awarded Best in Show.  She was the poster artist for the South Miami Art Festival in 2002.

FrameWorks is at 3196 Commodore Plaza, right across for the Post Office. Start there on Saturday and make your way around the Grove, you can pick up a map of the other galleries around town at FrameWorks.
