Yesterday's shooting in Village West

People keep asking me about the shooting yesterday in Coconut Grove. I don't know much other than a couple of guys were shooting around Elizabeth Street and Grand Avenue. All hell broke loose on a sleepy Wednesday when dozens of police cars zoomed through the Center Grove and a bunch of helicopters took to the sky -- tv and police helicopters.

But after all was said and done, it was a fast event, the police were in and out and the incident was over fast. The schools in the area were all locked down, but they soon opened and everything went back to normal.

That's all I know.

Contrary to what most closed minded individuals may say or think, the Grove is one of the lowest crime ridden communities in all of South Florida. Yes, rents are overpriced in the EAST Grove where most so called yuppies reside, thanks to the racial barriers set by themselves.
As for the other side of the Grove - which is labeled as the West Grove as per our delicate author puts it, well, the neighborhood has been tarnished with bad press, bad political warfare, and most of all, slumlords who refuse to clean up the trash they rent out to those who cannot afford to live in yuppieville. Do you really expect rooftops to be designer styled and glamorous for your viewing pleasure? Maybe you can volunteer your time and paint all the rooftops in pretty rainbow colors. Would that make you happy? This is reality buddy. Grow up and what ever you do, we don't want your kind in the Grove! Too bad it wasn't you who was shot. Oh, and another thing, it's pretty funny that CVS on Grand and 32 is considered East Grove for the sake of all commercial propaganda, but once anything bad happens - its the WEST GROVE CVS!

Ignorance...

http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/11/09/1916971/coconut-grove-named-safest-neighborhood.html

I happened to attend a City Hall meeting yesterday, full of all the Top Cops in Miami.. They were actually talking about district 5, were shootings and killings happen all the time, and just recently. Commissionaire Spence-Jones and many others are outraged.

The Grove, even West Grove now, please do not even begin to compare to other neighborhoods and cities.
CI.

I think the Grove is a lovely place. MIAMI is overpriced and dangerous, not just the Grove. If anything I've encountered some of the nicest and down to earth people while I've been working here. Anonymous is just jealous he can't afford to live in the Grove;)
