Is it Elton John or is it Memorex?

The Oliver the Rabbit contest is over and we have a winner. Someone from the Center Grove won.

The correct answer was the Maxell Blown Away commercial which was on tv and in newspapers and magazines for so many years.

I have a funny story about Memorex, which reminds me of Maxell since they were all sort of the same thing. When I was in high school we had a course called Rock Poetry and it was about rock songs and the words and how they are real poetry. We all had to bring in records and tapes. 

The teacher grabbed in a box and would pull out the record or tape and play it and we would discuss the song. She would pull out Elton John and say, "Ok, this is Elton John." Or, "This is Fleetwood Mac." At one point, she pulled out a tape and said, "Ok, now we are going to listen to Memorex," to which the class all bust out laughing. Some politely corrected her and told here that was the name of the cassette tape company and we went on with the class.

But every time I hear the words or think of Maxell or Memorex, that story comes back to mind.
