Gun Buy Back Program this Saturday

There's a gun buyback program planned for Saturday, September 8, being put on by the Coconut Grove NET office. Once you drop off the firearm, no questions are asked. You'll receive a special thank you and a gift card from Milam's or Publix in the amount of $25, $50, $75 or $100.

This gun buy back is from 10 am to 2 pm at the St. Paul AME Church (3680 Thomas Avenue).

Police Commander Richard Gentry says, "Our objective is to collect as many firearms...  One less firearm off the streets can save a life."

A couple of key points. First, does Commander Gentry intend on taking his and other police officer's guns off the street, after all it "can save a life?" I assume he doesn't, therefore, it sounds like he wants to expand the government's monopoly of violence in society (aka Miami). Next, I suppose the NET office and Officer Gentry want more victims of violent crimes due to being disarmed. Lastly, since the NET office is a government agency, then I and other people are paying through our tax dollars for our own disarmament.

Isn't this one of the first things they did in Nazi Germany? Read your history books people and stop watching "reality" TV. This is all about power and control and who has it. Do they really think that criminals will just show up and hand in their weapons?! This would be twisted satire (lol) if it weren't so eerie.

$25, $50, $75 or $100 for a gun?

I should set up camp outside the buy back and offer more for all legally obtained firearms that the owners no longer want.

"One less gun on the street can save a life".
Really? That is unless it is the one you use to keep from being raped in the back of a school dumpster. What an assenine project. Who is stupid enough to think that this sort of scheme has any effect what so ever on crime? This reminds me of the moronic signs at banks banning sun glasses, hoodies and hats. Because a bank robber is going to care about your stupid little sign. They should just cut to the chase and put up a sign that says. No bank robbers allowed in the bank property. Idiocy!

The last time they did this "buy back" crap, there wasnt any money in the account for the check(s) to clear... Sell it privately, you ma y get scammed... better yet, KEEP IT- you may need it when no one is around to help you!! Better to have and not need than to need and not have! Who will protect YOUR family?

They did this Cuba also. It worked out so well, cubans got free medical care for life, but for some reason the Cuban people still hop on makeshift rafts and float to US soil so they can have the opportunity to experience our crap ass healthcare system.

Do you you really believe that criminals are going to turn in guns? The only one's who will do so are guilt ridden
Liberals, who have never committed a crime. Yeah, one less aging hippie with a gun, that will make our streets safer.
