Many of the pieces being shown at the Hunter Gallery are originals by Linda, but recreations of other famous works, in this collection, she replaces the heads and faces with quirky animal heads and faces. The detail in the work is amazing in that there is so much detail, leading you to believe it's all done with oils but the work is all watercolor. The Belladonna Pug watercolor by Linda, shown above, is a play on the Princess de Broglie painting by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, shown next to it

Other paintings in the series are "Mule Deer General," a play on a photograph of Ulysses S. Grand from the 1860s, the deer is sitting in General Lee's uniform, but has regal, huge antlers, which take up a large part of the painting. There is also "Sir Jack Russel," a play on "Barere De Vieuzac, a 1793 painting by French painter, Jean-Louis Laneuville.

Linda is quite prolific, her art encompasses everything from people and animals to still life. She has been an established artist for over 30 years. The work is exhibited at selected galleries and Linda accepts a limited number of commissioned work as her schedule permits. Linda lives in Bradenton, FL.

Linda Chapman's work will be at the Hunter Gallery through the end of the month. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm.
