It was a large Gallery Walk
Last night's gallery walk was one of the best in a long time. At one point, Lilia Garcia, currator of the Hunter Gallery, told me that they counted 1200 people passing through the doors. She told me they went through a lot of wine. Both the Hunter Gallery and the Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery seemed to be the main area for the Gallery Walk last night, it seems to shift from month to month from Commodore Plaza back down to the Mayfair area.
Meme Ferre's art was featured at the Arts Festival Gallery and outside in the Atrium, she participated in the Art Attack live painting project along with others. Lots of families were part of the event and the kids loved watching the art come to life. Erika King had a large retrospective of her art at the Hunter Gallery, she was thrilled to tell me of all the famous (and rich) faces coming in to see her work -- the A List, as she likes to say.
It was a long day for the galleries, which started earlier than usual and ended quite late due to the large crowds. I myself wanted to get home early, but ended dragging in about midnight. How could I leave when so many friends were out and about enjoying the fun?
We have lots more pictures of the Coconut Grove Gallery Walk here.
