Colorful dress and music part of Indian Fest weekend
The Hare Krishna Ratha Yatra parade came through town yesterday as part of their Indian Festival Weekend, right here in Coconut Grove.
It got a late start, they called it "Miami Time," but it's well worth the wait to see the colorful dress and hear the music and see the dancing.
The parade started at the Krishna Temple at Day and Virginia, came down Virginia, turned onto Grand and made its way to Peacock Park, via McFarlane, for a festival for the rest of the day.
Food, hand-made dolls and lots of cultural things were for sale in the park.
Today, March 18, the temple at 3220 Virginia Street is the location for an all day festival which features family-friendly entertainment including live music and theater. There are food booths and astrology booths and lots of classic Indian dancing. Admission is free. Lots more pictures of the parade here.
Stop by today's festival on your way to or from the Gifford Lane Art Stroll which is today from noon to 5 pm.
