It's nice to see such honesty regarding car repairs
So anyway, this was on mind, that I had "old" tires and I drove over to Goodyear with almost flat tires to complain. This is the Goodyear at Bird and Douglas. They took me right away, not even a one minute wait and they checked the car out. It turned out to be a broken rim, caused they said, by a pothole or something like that. My mind went to all those freakin' potholes on Tigertail Avenue!
The mechanic worked on the car for about an hour, before he found the broken rim, he put the car up on the lift, he took the tires off and tested it for leaks and looked for nail holes and all that stuff. And he really went out of his way to solve the problem.
At one point, he suggested I needed a new tire since the broken rim had eaten into my tire, so I figured I had to now replace a one month old tire. But the shop manager said that the tire was fine, I didn't need a new tire. So that was great, and honest of them.
I then went to pay at the end of the job. They didn't want payment. They said, "No charge," which surprised me since they did take an hour out of their other jobs to work on my car. I then said to the shop manager, "I'll tip the mechanic anyway, how much should I give him, $20?" And he said, "No, that's too much, give him $10." !!!
So while I am upset that I have to now go to Kendall to get the rim fixed, at a place they recommended, I am thrilled to know there is such honesty right here in our own backyard. I was willing to pay anything to make the problem go away, but I was really treated fairly and with respect. The point of this story is to highly recommend the Goodyear store at 3690 Bird Road (at Douglas Road). Javier is the store manager and Luis is the guy that helps me every time I am there. Their number is 305-446-8101.
And as for the potholes, Tigertail was resurfaced this past week and is nice and smooth and finally is pothole free after so many years of big open wounds in the road, which caused big open wounds to so many innocent drivers.

I have also had 2 good experiences at that Goodyear store, Javier and all. Fast service, they do seem honest.
About Tiger Tail: Actually there's a lot more work to do. About a month ago they just resurfaced a chunk of it, maybe 300 yards. They did another smaller piece perhaps a year ago. But it's still a mess for the most part. Most cyclists and pedestrians don't use it, because it's still lunar landscape. Try it. It's unfortunate, because it could be a decent alternative to the other parallel mess: South Bayshore Drive. CI.
Worse than those potholes are the enourmous holes the city digs at various corners in the grove while picking up the piles of loose lawn and tree clippings. There are a few so deep, particularly on the corner of Trade ave, and I believe Center Street, that you could fit a smart car in it, and bury it completely.
The city needs to fill these in before someone gets hurt, and/or destroys their car.
