In the Nick of Time celebrates "Making Silly Faces"

With a 2010 Parents’ Choice Gold Award for his album, People, Places & Things, proudly in hand, Coconut Grove resident and Miami area family favorite Nick Deysher – who records and performs as In The Nick of Time – eagerly anticipates the upcoming release of his fifth studio CD, Making Silly Faces. Nick is set to celebrate with two special CD release shows at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18 in Davis Hall at Plymouth Church (3400 Devon Road). These performances will benefit the music program at Plymouth Preschool.

Highlighting the Coconut Grove shows will be an array of new songs from Making Silly Faces, including “The Sun Is Up,” “Dancing Pants,” “Making Silly Faces,” and “Punk Rocks,” as well as “classic” In The Nick of Time tunes like “The Dinosaur Song,” “Alligator Sally,” and “The Freeze Dance.” The In The Nick of Time duo of Nick Deysher and Tracey Freitag promise plenty of audience involvement, giving kids the chance to actively participate in every song, whether by clapping hands, making silly faces, doing the freeze dance, or snapping their arms like alligator jaws.

The Davis Hall stage will come alive with colorful new sets, special guests will make surprise appearances, and raffle drawings will enliven the festivities several times during each show.

“We're really excited about these CD release shows, and we're pulling out all the stops. We've got a great group of diehard fans who come to our shows, and they won't be disappointed! We're busy building sets, and planning some really special prizes and giveaways. Tickets will be sold at the door, so we want to encourage fans to arrive early to get a good seat!" says Nick.

Noted for eclectic recordings and live shows that feature a smooth blend of rock, pop, disco, reggae, rap, jazz and funk, Nick and In The Nick of Time draw on a lush expanse of musical influences from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, and beyond. Careful listeners will hear hints of The Beatles, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, The Ramones and many others in Nick’s music.

He went on to say, “Making children’s music has been a natural thing for me because it’s a lot like teaching, and I’ve been teaching -- as a camp counselor, babysitter, music instructor, preschool teacher -- since I was a kid myself. Also, I’ve never really reached a point where I forgot what it was like to be 3 or 8 or 15.”

In fact, Nick’s remarkable ability to connect with young children has earned him the affectionate nickname “The Toddler Whisperer.”

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children under twelve. For more info, please call 305-968-6094 or visit
