One call from Michelle and the tree cutting stopped
Suarez has placed a stop order on the tree cutting for 24 hours pending the discussion at the Village Council tomorrow night which Michelle has requested. Suarez is now on the agenda and so are the traffic people who are working on the 27th Avenue project.
According to Comm. Suarez's office someone has a lot of explaining to do.
The meeting is at the Sailing Club (2990 S. Bayshore Drive) Thursday, July 21, from 7 to 10 pm. It's gonna be a good one, please come out and help support the Grove tree canopy.
While most are sitting around and talking and pointing fingers, Michelle Niemeyer got the tree cutting stopped with one phone call.
Update: We know that others called Suarez, but that was only after they read this very story in the Grapevine according to Suarez and that is a fact, we know what time the calls came in. They came in after 4:50 pm, when this story was posted. Others had a chance to stop it yesterday, but they chose not to do anything until Michelle stepped up and did the right thing. True fact.
Also, we stand corrected about the fact that the Public Works Department put up signs about the tree massacre. Can you spot them? Those little things stuck in the grass where nobody walks or crosses the street, facing away from traffic -- nowhere near the actual trees in question, I might add.
I think people put up larger signs for lost dogs. It's amazing what passes for competence and legality in this town.
