Parishoners treated to an antique car show

car6
When church let out on Sunday, at Plymouth Congregational Church, parishioners were treated to a fast one hour antique auto show. Right there on the church's big lawn, cars from all eras were displayed from 11 am to noon.

The oldest car, and probably the oldest parishioner were together. This is a 1923 Ford Model T with Walt Ferguson behind the wheel, that is Beryle Lee, in the back seat. Walt tells me that both he and the Model T are the same age! Walt will be 88 on May 5 and the car is two months older. Interestingly enough, the church on Devon Road, is 114 years old, and has been around much longer than the Model T, which was first produced in 1908. 15 million were produced from then until 1927, according to Bill, who was very proud to share the history of the car with me.

Walt drove the car over from 17th Avenue earlier in the morning and while he didn't drive it around the church grounds, he did start it up which drew applause from the spectators. The car is sweet.

And so is Beryle, who dressed up the back seat with her colorful outfit and hat. She had the hat on in honor of the Royal Wedding. Many at church were dressed that way. At first we thought it was for last month's Easter or to add to the car show, but it was the royal thing, but still added so much to the antique car show. Beryle really made the car pop with color.

Here's a look at the rest of the super cars that were on display.
