Coconut Grove Drum Circle -- it's electric
I never get any great pictures of the Coconut Grove Drum Circle because they are usually in a dark area, under the stairs at Florentine Plaza each first Saturday for Gallery Walk, but this past weekend I made it my business to get right in there to get the scene. Above is Karen Deilke, at left, who heads the Grove's Drum Circle group. She, along with Liz Gibson under the aegis of Mark Richards have really made it into something special.
Audrey Scott and Uta, two Grove artists, got into the Drum Circle beat last Saturday.
Mark, left, is part of drum circles all over the county, he travels around to various drumming events. He's always part of the Grove's Drum Circle.
Everyone is welcome, there are extra drums and tambourines and even hoola-hoops. That's Richard Deilke in the center, who is also at all the Coconut Grove Drum Circles.
Mary Lage, photographer and local artist, at left, also got into the beat. It really has become such a tradition during Gallery Walk night, that there are almost more artists than anything at the Drum Circle.
It's very healing and worth a stop next time they are out in the Grove. We'll let you know when.
As you can see, all ages are welcome, it's something that everyone enjoys.
Terrie Felpeto and Gigi Levya stopped for a bit to enjoy the beat.
