Free Local Tax Preparation being offered

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church is providing free tax preparation at its Prosperity Center on church grounds (2750 McFarlane Road) to those with an annual income of less than $50,000. The Prosperity Center is one of ten such sites throughout the county and is managed by Human Services Coalition of Miami-Dade County.

St. Stephen's is an IRS-certified Vita site. Trained tax preparers will help people file their taxes and claim all their available tax credits, including Earned Income Tax Credits which go unclaimed by 30% of all eligible workers. This can mean up to $5,500 for a family of four.

Certified preparers will help you file your returns electronically, and the IRS deposits any refunds directly into your account within 7 to 10 working days.

The St. Stephen's Prosperity Center is open through April 18 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm. The Center will tell you what documents to bring with you when you call for an appointment at 305.846.7575.
