Nice Gallery Walk in spite of little participation

art1
It was a nice Gallery Walk last night, despite the fact that most galleries weren't open. Not sure why, because New Year's Day is quite busy in the Grove when evening falls. Above are Janee Cifuentes, with here sons Robert, Daykel and Michael, enjoying some Pollo Tropical, one of the sponsors of the Art Stroll, which is part of the Gallery Walk.

There were people at CocoWalk, Mayfair, all over Grand Avenue and Commodore Plaza. The restaurants were full and so were the galleries that were open.

There was music and food and drinks and lots of art provided by Artway 66, the GroveHouse and AC Fine Arts. The Promanade was the place to be for Johnny Valdez's Art Stroll section. Stephen Anton Rehage was at Artway 66, with Gaea Garrity, showing off his jewelry and holding court.

Candace Chloe Piz native Miamian, has her photography featured at the Artway 66 Gallery. She's a graduate of Princeton Christian School in South Dade and currently pursuing a Degree in Interior Design at the Art Institute (M.I.U.).

Many people don't realize it, but Johnny Valdez, from Artway 66, has been running the Art Stroll, in the Promenade at Mayfair. He sees to it each month that there is live entertainment and free food and drinks, and lots of art to display. The entertainment is everything from a rock band to the Coconut Grove Ballet. There are magicians and student musicians and it's all free to the public, thanks to Johnny.

Anyone interested in sponsoring the event is more than welcome to stop by the Artway 66 Gallery daily, to speak with Johnny. Thousands of people pass through the Promenade on Gallery Walk night so it's a great way to expose yourself (you know what I mean).

As the holiday season comes to an end, it was nice to see so many people out enjoying the first Gallery Walk of 2011.
