Stupa consecrated last week at Zen Village

stupa1
The Consecration Ceremony for the Enlightenment Stupa at Zen Village was held last week, early one morning. The congregants also celebrated His Holiness the Karmapa's 900th Birthday. As you drive by on Main Highway, you can see the impressive structure. A Stupa is a mound-like structure containing Buddhist relics, typically the remains of a Buddha or saint, used by Buddhists as a place of worship. There are no remains in this Stupa at Zen Village. It is said that the Stupa can prevent war, sickness, hunger and it can bring peace, accumulate merits and uplift spirituality.
