Kickball tourney raises money for homeless
nextgen held a kickball tournament in Peacock Park on Saturday. The weather was perfect and lots of people came out to play. The event was a fundraiser for the Community Partnership for Homeless (CPH).
Funds raised will go directly towards the over 6000 people that CPH serves each year.
CPH provides resources -- housing, food, health care, dental care, psychiatric care, job training, case management and child care - to rebuild the lives of hundreds of men, women and children everyday...for only $41 a day.
A few food trucks including GastroPod, Fish Box and Latin Burger were in the park, providing food for the players.
I hate to admit I like the food trucks, I know I am on record for being against the roach coach-type trucks, but these first class food trucks have incredible food.

Oh, and I sort of have a little plan for the food trucks, involving a "food court" in an area
of the Grove. It may not hurt businesses as much as we think and it will probably bring in a lot of people. Details to come.
