Grove Pop Warner team needs funding fast!
While the players were in school, the adults hit the streets this afternoon to help raise money. This was for the Coconut Grove Pop Warner little league football team. They need the funds to get to the championship game in Orlando tomorrow. Their bus leaves at 5 am!
Victoria Williams (left) and Bennie Champan spent all afternoon at the intersection of Grand and Main collecting for the championship winning team. The team will be out tonight after practice to take over collecing the donations. Their goal is to raise $6000 by tomorrow morning. The 11 and 12 year olds, part of the Knight Riders, have a great chance of winning the Pop Warner Super Bowl, so this is an important game. The money will pay for transportation, food and accommodations for the weekend trip.
To donate, stop by the center of town now until later tonight or call Kim Chapman, program director, at 305-924-1778. Every dollar will help.
