Tour modern architecturally significant homes

It's like a tour of the movie stars' homes, only better, because they are architectural gems. The American Institute of Architects Miami (AIA Miami) is giving tours of tropical modern architecturally significant homes in Coconut Grove and Miami Beach. It's part of the month-long "Celebrate Architecture + Design 2010."

The Coconut Grove home tour is Saturday, November 6 from 1 to 4 pm. The Miami Beach tour is Saturday, November 14 from 1 to 5 pm. The architects of all the homes will be onsite during the tours. They will give a little background and history and talk about their work.

The tours are conducted by bus, leaving from various sites.

Tickets are $50 for each of the tours, $65 each if a participant wants to earn three Continuing Education Units (CEUs) on the tours, and $40 each for AIA Miami members, including the three CEUs per tour – all including bus transportation and water.

To purchase tickets or for more information, call AIA Miami at 305-448-7488 or visit the AIA Miami website at
www.aiamiami.com.

AIA Miami, which has nearly 700 members, hosted nearly 20,000 members of AIA during the international convention here in June. AIA Miami offers professional development and support for member architecture professionals in South Florida.
