Village of Center Grove elects new board
It was a full house last night for the Village of Center Grove meeting. There was a lot on the agenda, including elections for a new board. Above are some of the nominees, from left: Nathan Kurland, current VP; Trina Collins, hiding behind Trina is current Prez Sue McConnell, Jesse Casher, Len Scinto, Bryan McFarland, Louis Del Borrello and Andres Lemos.
While there were about 55 or 60 people present, only 24 were eligible to vote and in the end, eight were elected to the board. At left, Allen Campbell and Antoinette Baldwin tally the votes. The winners, in alphabetical order are: Jesse Casher, Gary Ciuca, Trina Collins, Louis Del Borrello, Nathan Kurland, Sue McConnell, Bryan McFarland and Len Scinto.
The four officers will be chosen at the next meeting, which is in January.
Antoinette gave us some good news on the King Mango Strut. Pep rally and planning parties will start up soon, we'll announce them here. A full bus is going to Key West next week for Fantasy Fest. There was talk of a second bus, but for now there is only one bus and a long waiting list, as the bus is full.
Tonight, October 21, is the Village Council meeting, with a lot on the agenda, which does include neighborhood concerns. It would be nice if more people showed up for the meeting at Ransom Everglades Middle School (2045 S. Bayshore Drive, enter on Tigertail, free parking in the lot) at 7 pm.
Included on the agenda, which may concern neighbors are a discussion on the proposed Waterfront/Fuel Dock at Sailboat Bay; the 27th Avenue Reconstruction Project -- phase one is ready to begin; the proposed closing of Virginia Street at one end, do you live in the neighborhood behind Virginia? This concerns you.
Also, there's an update on the status of the pink wall construction on U.S.1 in the North Grove.
Come to the meeting, bring your agenda and it will be added to the next agenda.
