It was a very entertaining Community Bay Day

shake10
Community Bay Day at Shake-A-Leg Miami was different this time, now that Richard Issa was running it. It was better! From the water to the land, there was something for everybody. In the past, it was mostly a water sports event. This past Sunday, there was a lot more to do.

This time around, there was plenty to do for the landlubber.

The water is the main purpose of Community Bay Days and the volunteer staff is very welcoming to their visitors. They will accommodate anyone with a sail boat ride or a trip to Eco Island or you can go kayaking, too if you like. All at no cost.

Tiffany, Gisselle and Dafne enjoyed the bright sunny day.

Volunteers Joel Krieger and Juan Carlos Gill took folks out sailing late in the afternoon. Juan Carlos has been working with Shake-A-Leg for the past 10 years. He is part of the blind sailing crew. Recently one of the Florida blind sailing teams wone first place in Newport, RI. They are starting up their crews again at Shake-A-Leg, anyone interested can contact Ed Benitez at ed@shakealegmiami.org.

David Furer, Gilbert Alvarez and Ed Benitez spent the afternoon signing up people for all sorts of activities at the Community Bay Day event.

shake8
Small family groups to large groups of friends were taken out around the Bay for a sail or they were dropped off at Eco Island to explore.

shake9
Pop and Dot entertained the kiddies. Pop did balloon art and Dot painted faces.

shake4
Krystal Novaton and Valeria Galvan made sure the day was branded on the big black boards that are available for people to play with during the day.

There really was so much to do and the day was perfect for doing it. Community Bay Days is at Shake-A-Leg Miami the third Sunday of every month.
