Coconut Grove Elementary looking for partners

The Coconut Grove Elementary School PTA is meeting Thursday, September 30 at 6:30 pm. All are welcome, you don't have to be a member. The school is at 3351 Matilda Street.

The PTA is looking for local businesses and community leaders to support the PTA through donations or sponsorship, who will receive recognition for their efforts.

The
SpendforED Program is one area where they are trying to acquire funds for much needed learning tools for the students. It's a program to help cash-strapped schools in the county.

Partners in SpendforEd include Dunkin' Donuts, Crepemaker, Tarpon Bend, Milam's Market, Johnny Rockets, the Grove Skate Park, the Miami Science Museum and the Seaquarium, there are currently 225 partners.

"Dunkin' Donuts is very excited to be a partner for SpendforED," said Jeannie Graff, South Florida Field Marketing Manager, Dunkin' Donuts. "With school just beginning, we believe this program is a great way to engage with students' parents and grandparents while building a sense of community."

We were in Dunkin' Donuts last weekend and noticed the sign that said, "We accept ED bucks." It reminded me of Grove Bucks. ED Bucks is a system which allows you to donate to schools and get back six times your donation in the form the ED Bucks. They are accepted as partial payment at participating businesses for up to 20% of the bill.
